Instruction sheet missing in 36849 Reindeer Cars - Find it here!

We’ve heard from our customers that the instruction sheet is missing from, what seems to be, all of the Lionel 36849 Tell-Tale Reindeer Cars. Interestingly enough, and we’re sorry we didn’t catch this ourselves beforehand, it wasn’t stated in the catalog that this car doesn’t work with FasTrack. You’ve got to add a couple of pieces of track to get this to operate with your FasTrack layout. You’ll need two 12040 Fastrack adapters and two 65500 O Gauge track sections. The instructions to operate are the same for the Giraffe Car.

The catalog specifically states that it IS FasTrack compatable. It would be nice of Lionel to give some kind of coupon/discount for the additional track and inconvenience. I don't know abut anyone else, but the giraffe car directions dont show the same amount of pieces that came with my reindeer car.

Yeah- not only does it say it's fast track compatable but the picture shows it on fast track! Lionel customer service emailed me and said to look at their giraffe car directions online- which aren't as good as the ones Trainz have. With the Trainz directions, you only end up with one extra part. Maybe it's for curved track? My local hobby shop told me I would have to buy two sets of the adapter track because the track dimensions will be screwed up. I don't know that I beleive him- he was giving me the "this is what you get from buying on the internet instead of our store" bit. I'd appreciate input on this. I left there with no track and still don't have a working reindeer car. I agree that Lionel should give a discount Nice false advertising.

Hey, I had trouble at first, and I searched the internet to no avail. Mine also came without instructions. However, after about an hour of messing around, I figured out how to use the pieces with my fastrack without having to buy anything else. If you use the two pieces that are not shown in the giraffe instructions that are posted, they will work on the fast tack. The piece that does not have a hole for the pole has slots on it that connect to a straight piece of fastrack (underneath). The piece with the hole for the pole has four hooks it that connect to the piece that connects to the fast track. This kind of clamps the two pieces around the fastrack. Then the piece that operates the reindeer gets slid in the end of the tube. YOu may have to bend the triangle ends to get the proper spacing from the first rail of the track. Hope this helps. God bless and have a Merry Christmas.

Thanks for the help Seth! Very much appreciated. I'll try that and get it working before it's time to put the Christmas stuff away.
